I'm 23 and I grew up eating at La Hacienda. I would go as far as to say I've got an emotional attachment there. I have great memories of many of their servers and their owners - they were like family to us. There has always been great food (best refried beans and sweet salsa ever) and the servers are always the sweetest. Their decor is continuously updated to stay trendy and clean. This is a must for Hot Springs dining out! :)

Great authentic Mexican. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would find Mexican so good in Arkansas. Better than most through out the southwest.

Yelp! You let me down! This was the worst Mexican food I've had. Margarita was made with the cheapest tequila & the enchiladas were tasteless

Nice place with great fresh vegetarian options, fast and friendly service and most important fantastic margaritas!

I grew up going to this restaurant, and even though I was born and raised Texan, this is my favorite Mexican joint in the world. Those who say it's bland or cheaply made are either expecting Tex-Mex (which I love but this isn't it), or maybe caught them on a bad day (the owners can't be here 7 days a week, 365 days a year so I can imagine, like all businesses, they have encountered staffing glitches here and there), but year-in, year-out I have had fantastic, original recipes served hot. When you go as many times as I have over a 27 year period, there are some ups and downs, but I have never had a truly bad experience here and the food always keeps me coming back. It's a family owned joint and, at least the first decade or so they were so successful they kept bringing more and more friends and relations up from Mexico to work; it seemed there was a fresh batch each year. The owners knew us because we were regular (they even remember us when we come in 20 years later) and would always come to our table to make sure everything was alright and ask about the children (and now the childrens' children). The main thing is: don't come in with preconceived notions of what it's supposed to taste like; instead, get ready for something new. As I said before, this is NOT Tex-Mex! As such, maybe traditional Tex-Mex dishes that they offer will not be what you expect. This is central Mexican food: the flavors are more subtle, less spicy, but give them a chance. Get a combination dinner if you want an assortment. Their shredded beef tacos are to die for! Juicy, tender, pull-apart meat in a crispy shell. The sweet/warm red salsa is the one that made them famous, and the strawberry punch is unique to this place and will have you coming back for more. I always imagine that if I had a sweet Mexican grandma cooking at an adobe stove at the family hacienda deep in Mexico, this is how her food would taste.

I have no idea how to say the name of this place but really enjoyed the food. The chips and guacamole dip were excellent. Great steak tacos too.

  • Mary H.

We really enjoyed the food, it is a different type of Mexican than Tex-Mex but the food was delivered quickly and the service was great. They bring three types of salsa with the chips and Tortillas with the meal.

  • Sarah R.

Best chips and salsa I have ever had! All of their food is fresh and cooked to order. My drink never goes empty as the entire staff continuously see how you are doing. Try the enchiladas, the shredded beef is extremely juicy!

Cheese quest. Excellent. Hot sauce mild for everyone. Chips crispy. Tea fresh and good. Frozen margarita good and strong. Atmosphere homey and casual. So casual a large group of 20 felt like they had to yell. Very noisy without sound damping in the hard ceiling. Two salsas. One ok the other too sweet. A green sauce was brought out and was very good. Wait staff very attentive. I had the carnita pork. Which was excellent kids had chimichangas which they devoured. I would return. But I'll check for that noisy bunch.

Good food, good service. we had the enchilada plate and shrimp fajita plate and both were very good. Service was really quick and reliable. Prices were very fair

been coming here since i was a young kid. always has been and always will be my favorite for mexican. the la hacienda special which is taquitos rice n beans is to die for. very fun bright colorful interior. perfect place to stop in and have a margarita and try the 3 different style salsas with chips while you wait. a hot springs classic i hope it never closes.

  • Dima Z.

Very bright and colorful inside and out. Pretty good food. Service was the only reason I took off a star - our waiter pretty much disappeared after we got our food. Finally someone else brought us the check and it took them couple more times to split it properly two ways. They were also confused by the free dessert offer I pulled up on my Yelp app but gave it to us anyways.

Yummiest Mexican food in Hot Springs! I crave their food, even though I live in Mexican food mecca (San Jose, CA) I love this place because you can go as American or Mexican as you want. They have a few salsas that you have to ask for (Chico!!!) that are more what I experience out here in Cali. Super friendly service EVERY TIME!

  • Derek G.

I have been coming here for years and the food is always wonderful. the staff is friendly and very attentive. the decor is very festive which makes me happy!

  • Rachel B.

The food deserves 5 stars. The meat in particular was fresh and perfectly prepared. Not always true in a Mexican restaurant. They bring you 3 types of salsas with their ridiculously fresh chips. The service wasn't particularly friendly or helpful and the prices were high- $13-$17 a plate. But again, the food was standout. Try the guacamole. It's worth the extra!

I've been a regular here for many years and went there for lunch recently, only to find changes that I was not pleased with:( Menu changed, prices, & service changed and well...its too much like everyone else now with tacos, burritos, and tamales. I ordered my usual which is the only place I know of, west of the Mississippi, that has an actual homemade chili rellenos. I drove over 30 miles, one way, for this, mind you:) Ok...salsa and chips...I was served cold picante and chips. Yuck! I've NEVER been served picante in this restaurant before until now. So I asked for the warm, sweet/tangy, homemade salsa which they brought to me. I had to ask 2 more times for refills on the salsa because its sooo good. And I wasn't even offered the green salsa. So I guess they, like EVERYBODY ELSE, went to the cheap, crappy, cold picante sauce:( Back to the my chili rellenos. Boy, was I ever disappointed! My chili rellenos was barely cooked! It didn't look the same...golden brown with cheese sauce. It was still pale in color and limp:( I think someone forgot to turn the fryer on before they put my chili relleno in there and didn't care how it turned out, is what it reminded of:( I ate it anyway and it tasted the same which was great but on the greasy side which is not good, ever. I didn't recognize anyone in the restaurant. The wait staff was totally different and was only concerned about a refill of our drinks and not anything else. I also had to ask for my check which a lunch for 2 was $18.00 and change plus tax and tip. I'll be going back again soon. I hope my next visit will be like all of my other visits, great so that I can forget that this episode ever happen:)

Great place. I am not a huge Mexican food person, but I loved this place. They are obviously family owned because the staff seems to be all family. Everyone waits on everyone which means fast refills on drinks and chips! They have everything and be sure to try their white cheese sauce for chips. I would recommend this place over other Mexican places I been.

Excellent food!! Love the atmosphere, very clean, great chips, salsa, and salsa verde. All of our meals were hot, delicious, and served quickly. Would highly recommend. Great margaritas and staff too!

I was in town to attend a funeral and decided to stop in for lunch after reading the reviews. They have an extensive lunch menu with lots and lots of choices. I really love the 3 different types of sauces they bring out, a sweet "warm" sauce, a fresh "hot" sauce and a green "mildly spicy" sauce. The chips also were crisp and hot. I ended up ordering the lunch special #1 that was comprised of a shredded beef taco, a cheese enchilada, rice and beans. The enchilada was "dressed" with a lettuce and tomato mixture. The shredded beef taco was really delicious. The rice was also very good. The refried beans were a bit on the dry side, but ok. I wasn't totally impressed with. Instead of chili con carne it had a somewhat bitter enchilada sauce. Service was very attentive and I most definitely will try the restaurant again when I am back in town. I am a huge fan of chili rellanos and I can't wait to try theirs.

I ordered the "Camarones La Hacienda Style" (grilled shrimp in a special salsa and pico with rice and beans). Had we'll over a dozen med to large shrimp. They were delicious. The Spanish was moist and very good. Informally don't eat the retried beans, but these were better than the usual dry beans, they were moist and tasty. The salsa was different from anything I ever had, it had a sweet taste to it. At first I a little disappointed, but it grew on me and I consumed two servings. Lots of chopped onion and peppers. We also ordered the queso dip, it was amazing. White cheese with plenty of flavor and just enough kick. The service was exceptional. The menu selections are tremendous, took me awhile to look it over. I would recommend you try this place if your in Hot Springs.

What to say?! Came here because of the great Yelp reviews......very disappointed. I ordered the fajitas and they were brought to me on a plate not a sizzling hot skillet. The meat looked more like ground beef and chicken. No strips of fajitas. Fajitas at Chili's are better. The rice was ok not great. The beans....ugh the beans! It was more like bean gravy. Not the refried beans it says on the menu. The salsas were a little better except for the sweet one, no bueno! The only saving factor to this meal were the margaritas. Not sure why this place has gotten great reviews.

Stayed at the Comfort Suites and they rec'd this restaurant. Ordered take out. It was not good at all!! Ordered chicken enchiladas and got cheese! Ordered soft tacos and got hard tacos!! I do not recommend this place at all!!

This bright pink building had us intrigued the entire week we were in town and finally had to stop on our last day. Good thing we waited until then otherwise we would have moved in and totally blown our vacation budget. Great Mexican food, a wonderful staff and a good stop.

Omg, I've been to thousands of Mexican restaurants across the us and I LOVE a good Mexican meal almost better then a steak dinner..... This place is THE BEST Mexican restaurant I have ever eaten at, bar none, the salsa is to die for, the chips properly warmed and crispy with a slight buttery flavor, we ordered a white cheese dip, perfect, just the right amount of creaminess and flavor, and I ordered a lightly breaded and grilled ribeye steak.... Drool.... Wow is all I can say the best flavor and normally I'll get the retried beans and rice and never eat them cause there so bland.... Not here the most flavorful beans and rice I can't say enough good things about this restaurant the wait staff was Johnny on the spot if I could give 6 stars I would if you come to hot springs do yourself a favor and eat here... You will not be disappointed

It's close to our house, and the pricing isn't too bad. However, the food is just a little too bland and not flavorful enough. Their salsas are good, but is found myself having to pour the salsas over my food to give it more flavor. I wish they'd spice up their food as it's so convenient to me, I'd like to go more often. The servers were nice.

My favorite Mexican restaurant, hard as it is for me, a Texan, to admit. I love the cheese enchilada plate, but I am sure their other items are great. My boyfriend likes the vegetarian burrito, and the shredded beef tacos are also very good. But this place has some of the best queso (white Mexican cheese style) and best refried beans (they must be lard + crack, seriously) I have ever eaten. The chips are great (always the ultimate test of any Mexican restaurant), and they bring you two salsas: a very hot green one and a sweet red one (I assume it has brown sugar, and maybe a splash of pineapple juice in it). They are addictive. The place has a great atmosphere and full bar (strong margaritas!) in addition to an attentive staff. I also love their heavy, blue glassware. I live in Austin, so I only get to eat here about once every year or so, but I always make sure it's my first stop in Hot Springs. My family and I have been eating here for years. Check out the lunch specials up until 2:00pm.

Had chicken and beef that was not restaurant quality. Frozen, out of a bag ,marinated in soy sauce. One star because the Margarita was good!

From Austin, I feared the worst but found delicious food served promptly and continual checking from many staff to see that everything was good, nothing needed. I'd definitely return when in area.

I enjoyed the food here. Combo at $9.95 was very satisfying. Rice had lots of "stuff" in it that made it very interesting. The beef ranchera was spicy, with much depth of flavor. Green salsa had a pretty good kick to it. I'll definitely return.

I grew up in HS and this is one of the best mexican places in town. It is only second to Jose's. Order the #11 all cheese. Great Punch!!

Surprisingly good TexMex in Arkansas. Good chips and a variety of salsas. Excellent queso made with white cheese. The wife loved her pork tacos and my "pork chili con carne" was very flavorful with just the right amount of spice. And Very Good margaritas. All for a reasonable price. And excellent service. The whole team checked on us, getting us more water, chips and margaritas. I'd definitely go back if ever back in Hot Springs

So yes, I was in town for a weekend in this wonderful paradise of what it is Hot Springs. I am from California and in the evening, my family and I (in which my family is from Texas) decided to do Mexican food. I know that the town is not predominantly Mexican or Latino in that aspect, but it sure did have a variety of Mexican food choices. So we found this place, in which it has a good neon sign out and in a pink building fixture. First, we were welcomed and throughout our eats there, we were greeted with great service. The food I have to say was one of the best that I have eaten besides my mother's cook. The food seemed homemade, and the tortillas were made from scratch. The pineapple drink that I had was made from fresh pineapple and I have to say that the carne asada that I had was delicious! So if you are craving for Mexican food in the area, this is sure one place to check out if you are visiting such a great national park!

hands down the best mexican restaurant in hot springs possibly in all of arkansas. the quality freshness and consistency of the food is unparalleled. the only thing keeping me from getting this restaurant a 5 star rating is how obsessed the waitstaff is with turning tables. the service is almost too fast and too in your face until about 2/3rds inti your meal where it mysteriously disappears and they try to push you out the door.

We lived in Hot Springs for ten years. We used to go to this place a lot and boy, do I miss it. But he loved the Colorado Grill's fajitas (so did I) so we stopped going here. The one thing or two that I recall that were outstanding were 1) the green salsa!! with chips and 2) the choice of either red or orange punch they kept in pitchers near the front. I don't remember the exact menu items but I know it was a Very good place. One thing I want to mention that is SO Arkansas is one day we went in and one of the Hispanic waiters , thinking I wouldn't understand him, referred to me as the "crazy lady." You get the feeling an entire family works here. It's painted pink on the outside so we called it The Pink Palace, which I made up so in case that makes me crazy I accept. LOL

I was a little confused about the address when I started to type my review. It is located at 3836 Central Ave. (Hwy 7 south), 1 1/2 miles south of Oaklawn but I don't know anything about a National Park address. That was confusing. Anyway, I ate here with girlfriends in Sept. 08. The food was probably the best mexican food I've had in a long time. The Margaritas were good too. Everything was really fresh tasting. The service was excellent. We arrived a little bit late for the dinner crowd but they didn't try to rush us out at all.

If you like frozen Mexican TV dinners this is the place for you! The food's taste and texture is just like they'd taken it out of the freezer, nuked it & presented it to you. Even the salsa was runny. I won't be going back!

  • Chad C.

I've grown up eating here and watched the childern of the family that runs the place grow up with me. This is what I like about La Hacienda: The food is fresh authentic mexican. They serve two kinds of salsa, one is sort of sweet and the other is ultra hot. Everything on the menu is good, so I don't see where you could go wrong. Make sure and try their strawberry punch. Very fast service and I've yet to wait around for a refill on chips, salsa, or drink!!!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
